Deleting a Registry
Section titled “Deleting a Registry”Deleting a registry in Dockreg permanently removes the registry, all its images, tags, and associated data. This action is irreversible and will result in complete data loss for that registry. Ensure you have exported or backed up any critical images (e.g., using docker save or the Dockreg export features if available) before proceeding.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- You must have owner or admin permissions for the organization that owns the registry.
- All team members should be notified, as they will lose access to the registry.
Steps to Delete a Registry via the Dashboard
Section titled “Steps to Delete a Registry via the Dashboard”- Log in to your Dockreg dashboard at https://dockreg.com/dashboard.
- In the left sidebar, click Organizations to view your organizations.
- Select the organization containing the registry you want to delete.
- Navigate to the Registries tab in the organization dashboard.
- Locate the target registry in the list and click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to it.
- Select Delete Registry from the dropdown menu.
- A confirmation dialog will appear, warning about data loss. Read the warning carefully.
- To confirm, type the exact name of the registry (e.g.,
myapp.registry.dockreg.com) into the provided field. - Click Delete Registry to finalize the action.
Confirmation Requirements
Section titled “Confirmation Requirements”- Dockreg enforces a two-step confirmation: selecting the delete option and manually typing the registry name. This prevents accidental deletions.
- If the registry is in use (e.g., linked to active deployments), you may need to remove integrations or webhooks first.
What Happens After Deletion
Section titled “What Happens After Deletion”- The registry URL becomes unavailable immediately.
- Any API keys or webhooks tied to the registry are revoked.
- Storage usage for your account decreases accordingly, potentially affecting billing.
- If you’re on the Starter or Team plan, this may free up slots for new registries.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”- Permission Denied: Ensure you have admin rights. Contact your organization owner if needed.
- Cannot Delete: Check for active pulls/pushes or integrations blocking the deletion. Wait for operations to complete or remove dependencies.
